Beware of job scams that ask for money

My friend and I almost got scammed, and I'm sure there were many others who paid money to these scammers. I know that many foreigners in Korea are used to paying money to job consultants who will take care of both job and visa issues for you. However, there are many job scams that take advantage of this fact to steal money from foreigners. Here is how they do it: They post jobs on social media using a real person's profile with photos and everything. These jobs are usually high paying and the job description is not there. They ask you to DM. When you DM, they ask you to join a Telegram channel and say that they will connect you to the hirers and other candidates. When you join, you will be told that there is a fee to get in. They ask you to pay with Bitcoin. When you pay, they just disappear. Luckily, I noticed this on the way in, so I got out before I paid anything, but I'm sure there are many others who would have paid them. So be careful! Don't trust job recruiters based on their social media profile. They may be pretending to be someone else, so always ask for an official website and email address.
