Non-Korean engineer jobs

TLDR: Even Korean engineers have a hard time getting hired these days. If you speak only basic Korean but are an excellent engineer, you should look for English speaking companies and prove to them that you have the necessary skills. To be honest, it's not just Korea where engineers are having a hard time getting hired. You'll hear that there are too many engineers and too few jobs to hire them, whether in Silicon Valley, Europe, Asia, or anywhere else. Korean companies are still closed to foreigners, especially if you don't speak Korean well. Many Koreans still value coming to the office, working long hours (even if it's overtime), and bonding with their colleagues. If you're a foreigner in Korea and you don't speak Korean well, chances are slim that you'll be able to get into the so-called conglomerates like Samsung, Hyundai, SK, etc. In fact, many of them have scholarship programs for Ph.D. students who are predetermined to join these companies after graduation. So unless you are better than them, it will be hard to get into these companies and get high paying jobs. However, there are few companies in Korea where English is the standard working language. They're hard to find, but they definitely exist. They will probably post their jobs in English and they will prefer to communicate with you in English. Sometimes, even if the company as a whole uses Korean, certain teams or departments may still use English because most of their members are foreigners. So you should try hard to find those companies and apply for their positions. If you are good enough to pass their test, you will be able to get your job as an engineer even if your Korean level is only basic to intermediate. If this post gets a lot of responses, I may write about some sample companies I found during my job search. I wish everyone good luck!

Not an engineer but happy to hear that some people find sucess in Korea. Totally agree... if its not huge companies chances are probably quite slim. Cannot image small team hiring a foreigner when they can find a korean person for this position. What field are you working in?
