[my experience] Visa Options After Grad

After graduating from a Korean university, several visa options are available to international students depending on their plans for employment, further study, or other activities in South Korea. Here are the main visa types you can consider: 1️⃣ D-10 Visa (Job-Seeking Visa) The D-10 visa is designed for those who have completed their studies and are looking for a job in Korea. You can also do an internship with this visa. It allows you to stay in the country for up to six months while you search for employment, and it can be extended for up to three years. 2️⃣ E-7 Visa (Working Visa) The E-7 visa is for foreign professionals who have secured a job in a field designated by the Korean government. Some companies sponsor the E-7 visa for full-time workers, but in some cases, you might need to have a D-10 visa first during your probation period. 3️⃣ F-2-7 Visa (Resident Visa) The F-2-7 visa is a long-term residence visa that master’s degree graduates can apply for upon graduation. This visa is also available to citizens of countries that supported South Korea during the Korean War. It allows for extended stays and greater flexibility in employment, study, and living arrangements. Eligible countries include: Colombia, France, the Philippines, India, and more. Now, talking about my experience with getting a job, I actually don’t come from one of the listed countries above, and I am also only an undergraduate student. So, my only options were getting a D-10 or E-7 visa. Many people ask, Can we get an E-7 visa right away? Do we have to get a D-10 first during the probation period? Well, I think it depends on your company. In my case, I got my E-7 visa as soon as I applied for my job because my company sponsored it after I passed all the required documentation. This was really beneficial for me because I didn’t need to change my visa again, even after completing my probation period.
