I am currently working for one of the Korean companies, and getting this job was quite a journey. I want to share my interview experience, especially since the role I applied for isn't directly related to my major. Maybe it'll help someone preparing for job hunting in Korea.
I graduated from a Korean university with an engineering degree. 🎓 The job I applied for, however, is focused on global sales and marketing. So I had two interviews, first with the director and second with the CEO.
*) First Interview with the Director
The director's questions were quite structured, and this round really tested my understanding of the company, my goals, and how I fit into the position I applied for. Here are the questions I got:
1️⃣ What’s your major? Why did you choose your major?
2️⃣ Why did you apply for this position when it’s not directly related to your major?
3️⃣ What do you know about our company?
4️⃣ Is there any project you want to do? Can you imagine yourself working here?
5️⃣ What are your strengths and weaknesses?
6️⃣ Do you have any questions for us?
--> Never skip this part! I actually asked, “What’s the work culture like here?”
*) Second Interview with the CEO**
This round had a completely different vibe because it was more like a personality test than a technical interview. The CEO wanted to get to know me as a person, not just as an applicant. The CEO even asked about life in Korea. But I answered thoughtfully, sharing my positive experiences as well as the challenges I overcame as a foreigner living in Korea.
I hope this thread gives you some insight into interviewing for jobs in Korea, If you have questions or need tips, feel free to ask!
