Today, we’re joined by Eneng, a Team Leader at one of Korea’s leading remittance company, SentBe. Originally from Indonesia, she’s here to share her journey of building a successful career as a foreigner working in Korea. From student life to leadership, her story is full of insights and inspiration. We hope you enjoy the interview! ✍🏻 Please introduce yourself: Hi! My name is Eneng, and I’m from Indonesia. I came to Korea in 2012 as a student. ✍🏻 What is your major, and what was your first job in Korea? I studied the Korean language for a year, and afterward, I pursued a Master’s degree in International Economic Law. My first job in Korea was at SentBe, where I joined as a Regional Manager. ✍🏻 How did you land a job in Korea? Some of you may already know, I got my job at SentBe through a recommendation from a friend! ✍🏻 What is SentBe? SentBe is a remittance company that sends money from Korea to over 50 countries around the world. In addition to Korea, we also offer services from Singapore, Indonesia, and Vietnam to Korea. In the near future, we’ll be expanding to include remittance services from the U.S. and Australia to Korea as well. ✍🏻 How is working in Korea? Working in Korea is actually fun! I enjoy the good work-life balance we have here. ✍🏻 What are your tips or advice for growing a career, from a team leader’s perspective? I started at SentBe as a Regional Manager, and now I’m a Team Leader. Here are a few pieces of advice that helped me grow my career in Korea: 1️⃣ Adapt to Korean work culture Korean workplaces often move fast. So being able to keep up with the pace is key. 2️⃣ Master multi-tasking It’s common to handle multiple tasks at once. You need strong time and task management skills to stay on top of everything. 3️⃣ Language skills It’s a huge advantage if you can speak three or more languages, especially in an international company. These are the key points that helped me grow, and I believe they can help you too. ✍🏻 What’s your survival tip for working in Korea? Just have fun! We work hard here, but it’s important to make time for yourself. Whether it’s exploring new hobbies, hanging out with friends on the weekend, or just relaxing at home watching TV. Find your balance. Work can be stressful enough, so don’t forget to take care of yourself. 🤩 Now let’s move to the fun part. A quick answer game! What’s the word you use the most at work? “네, 알겠습니다!” (“Yes, understood!”) Do you wear slippers in the office? Yes! My colleagues even gave me a really cute pair. Tteokbokki vs. Gogi (spicy rice cakes or meat)? GOGI! 🥩 Do you brush your teeth after lunch? YES! (Even though it’s not common in Indonesia.) ✍🏻 Is there anything else you'd like to say? If you’re interested in experiencing work life in Korea, SentBe also offers internship programs. Feel free to send us your CV (internship@sentbe.com) , and we’ll make sure to take a look!
