💼 What jobs can you do?
The good news! Most temporary work is fair game! Here's what's available:
✅ Language jobs : translation, editing, subtitling, content writing, voice acting for educational materials
✅ Hospitality : hotels, restaurants, cafes, catering. Korea's booming tourism scene means strong demand for bilingual staff
✅ Volunteering : WWOOF Korea connects you with organic farms offering food and accommodation in exchange for your help (wwoofkorea.org)
✅ General part-time work : retail, service industry, and other temporary roles
❌ Off-limits jobs : doctors, lawyers, professors, pilots, language instructors (requires E-2 visa), entertainers, and performers at venues that could affect public morals
⏰ Working hours
Maximum 25 hours per week for most nationalities. Canadians are exempt from this restriction and can work up to 40 hours per week.
💰 How much will you earn?
Korea's 2026 minimum wage is ₩10,320/hour. Language-related jobs like editing and translation tend to pay more. Budget roughly ₩1,300,000/month for living expenses covering rent, food, transport, and phone.
📋 What you'll need to apply
Passport, health insurance (minimum KRW 40,000,000 coverage), proof of funds (KRW 3,000,000 minimum), return ticket, criminal record check, and a medical certificate. Requirements can vary by country, so always check with your local Korean embassy.
⚠️ One important rule
This visa is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. You cannot apply again after using it (except Canadians and Japanese nationals under special agreements).
💡Pro tips
Register as a foreigner within 90 days of arrival to get your Residence Card. You'll need it for everything from opening a bank account to getting a SIM card. Also register with your home embassy in case of emergencies.
